The Catholic Women's League of Canada is a national organization rooted in Gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God. The national organization consists of over 100,000 women aged 16 and older. The CWL contributes to the life and vitality of the church, family and community at home and abroad.
The CWL Council at St. Patrick's was formed in 1926 and has approximately 140 members.
There are three levels of participation in the League:
- highly active members attend most meetings, help out in various activities either at the parish level or in the community, and pray for the League;
- active members who cannot attend day-time events, attend evening meetings and help out when they can;
- less active members who are unable to attend meeting or help out in events but may attend spiritual retreats and pray for the League.
All three levels of participation are important for a healthy organization and can add their voices to the national League when it deals with governments regarding issues concerning women, children and poverty.
Membership dues are $30/year. Memberships are for a calendar year and include subscription to the League magazine.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm, in the Parish Centre. Refreshments are served before the meeting.
